“TukTuk” is one vehicle that we can use to go anywhere, but many people always use it to go to the market, because it can put any things on it. It has 3 wheels and two benches of seat, 1 to 6 people can be contained. The cost for each person is 5000 kip / km and it’s up to the distance. The origine of “Tuk Tuk” is in Japan and the name “Tuk Tuk” comes from its sound, like “tuk tuk tuk tuk ...”.
Truck is used for transporting goods, people always use it to travel between countryside to town because of bad roads so buses cannot approach but the truck can go there, so it costs a little more expensive than bus. The truck is improved from pick-up.
“Saamlo” means “three wheels” because it has three wheels, one in the front and two in the back like its name and it was popular in the past, but now many people have their own vehicle so the “saamlo” has decreased in number. “Saamlo” does not have an engine so we use the physical of man to ride and the cost per person is 3000 kip.
Motor boat in Savannakhet is usually used by fishermen, sometimes it’s used to take people from Laos to Thailand and some people use it to go to the island in the middle of Savannakhet and Mukdahaan in Thailand. It’s made from the rowing boat, we just add a motor on it.
“Ox cart” is used in the countryside. It can carry the heavy goods. Now we cannot see it in the town but in the countryside some villages can be seen.
Despite the information above, you may never see them. If you want to see them, you should visit Laos.

In my country, there are many means of transportation. The most important is the transport by truck. We have big trucks that can transport wood, animals, etc. …. It goes very easily in the mountains. We use it frequently in the daily life to transport something. But it can also transport passengers and must respect the rules when driving in the cities or the suburbs.
Many years ago, transportation in Laos was difficult. We used horses and boats. Then, there were some modern and useful means of transporting goods such as roads : we used trucks for transporting goods. Transportation by water and air are still not used that much. Because Laos doesn’t have a sea or an ocean, transportation by water is not developed. Air transport is not enough neither. A good communication facilitates transportation. Transport improves life of populations. Transportation is not available in remote areas.
Now Laos is a developing country, we have many modern means that we use in our daily life such as communication and transportation.
